Something is wrong with the world and I don't know what it is.
It was better before, of course it was better. In the golden age of legend, when there was enough to eat and enough hope, when there was a nation under God and people could look up and see beyond the horizon, beyond the day. Children were born happy and grew up rich.
Now we have that. The hardholders stand against the howling elements and all comers, keeping as many people safe as they can. The Angels and Savvyheads are constantly fighting against the lack of resources, flying bullets and everything breaking. The Hocuses gather people around them. Are they protectors, saviors, visionaries or just dreamers? Choppers, gunluggers and battlebabes cut up what they can and defend it with blood and bullets.
Pilots search and scour, looking for opportunities, for the perfect chance. The skinners and maestros remember beauty, or invent it anew, take it in their hands and whisper, "Come and see," and don't worry about what it will cost you. And the brains, oh, the brains see what no one else will see: the psychic maelstrom of the world, the terrible despair and hatred that presses itself to the edge of all perception, that's the world now.
And who are you? This is what we have, yes. What will you do with it?
