It is available in smooth sheets, textured sheets, and profiles, and can be easily cut, shaped, and glued, making it a popular choice for modelers and hobbyists. Plasticard can be made from three main types of materials: ABS, Polystyrene plastic, and uPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride), each with distinct characteristics.
This type of material, compared to ABS and uPVC, is especially easy to cut, scratch, and bend, which allows for precise and detailed designs. It can be glued with cyanoacrylate adhesives and specific glue for plastics compatible with this material, creating very strong bonds. Its smooth surface accepts paint well, providing excellent results for finished models. However, this material may not be as durable as ABS when subjected to high stresses.
